MOST ADDED - 2025 so far
These songs appeared in tastemaker playlists more than any others in the first half of 2025
The numbers have been crunched: out of over 11,000 tracks added to tastemaker playlists so far in 2025, these are the songs that appeared more than any others:
Save the playlist and you’ll find early previews of hotly anticipated albums (many now released), rising artists earning major attention, and plenty more. This is a special edition; I update this list every month with the tracks showing up most often on tastemaker playlists (and I’ll post about it here).
The most-added song so far this year is Wet Leg’s “catch these fists,” which dropped on April 1 as the lead single from their new album moisturizer. The album came out last week and there’s no shortage of album tracks to feature (my early favorites are “mangetout” and “pokemon”), so I’m expecting to see a lot more Wet Leg on these lists in the second half of 2025.
Some more of my highlights: Momma, Saya Gray, quickly, quickly, Still Blank, and Miso Extra.
One trend I noticed: guitars everywhere. The Shoegaze Revival is now 2+ years old but there’s still tons of loud, reverb-y guitar in the mix across this playlist and I’m not mad about that particular revival continuing on. There’s a lot of guitar-based indie pop here too; it’ll be interesting to see if an artist like Alex G will ride the current wave of dudes-singing-poppy-rock on the pop charts and graduate from tastemaker-star to actual star.
What’d I miss on this list? Or, more accurately, what’d the tastemakers miss?
